DSLR Photography Guideline for Better Photography
Suppose you have bought a DSLR Camera for Photography. Due to no idea about DSLR, of course, you get worried to see lots of buttons after unpacking the camera and seem to have the large User Manual that it is a labyrinth. Then what will you do, start to shoot after selecting auto mode? If you shoot by auto mode, so what is the necessity of a DSLR? Do not have any Mobile Phone? If the above discussion is right for you then the blog is for you. Let’s see:
Since you have bought a DSLR for a large amount so of course, you hope that the picture will be as you want. But you will not get the results you want by Auto Mode. So you have to select a manual from the Manual Mode. it will be discussed how to set it manually by this tutorial. Which one we know as “Shooting Mode” is the primary activity of DSLR. Generally, there is a Dial Button on the above of the camera. Let’s see from the picture below.
Shooting Mode is selected by the Round Dial Button. Auto Mode selects exposure, aperture, shutter speed by itself and you can select exposure, aperture, shutter speed by the others such as AV, Tv, P, M, etc. The dial button can be different according to the manufacturer. At first, you have to find your Dial button.
Setting Aperture Priority (Av, or A) for Professional Photography
Aperture Priority is the name of the shooting mode. It gives the priority to Aperture. The mode is considered a semi-automatic mode. When this mode will be selected then you can select aperture as you want and shutter speed will be selected by the camera. Now the question is what is aperture and when you will control it?
Setup DSLR Aperture Appropriately
Aperture is the size of the hole of your DSLR camera. When the shutter is opened at this time light will enter through the hole. As much as the hole is large that much light will enter. ‘f-stops’ is the unit of Aperture. Generally, it is expressed by ‘f-number’. Such as f/2.0, f/2.8, f/4.0, f/5.6, f/8.0 express the ratio of the focal length of the lens diameter of the camera. That’s why the large Aperture is expressed by a small f-number. That means as much as smaller is the f-number as much as large is the Aperture. So f/2.0 is so much greater Aperture than f/8.0.It will be clear by this picture below for DSLR photography.
Through the large hole (small f-number) more light enter. So the photo becomes more clear when Photography by DSLR . For the large Aperture or small ‘f-number’, the depth of field become low so the subject of the photo becomes clear and the background becomes dim. But large Aperture is not always a good image. It depends on necessity. Aperture is related to the depth of field. Now, what is the depth of field? Depth of field is that area that is on the focus area. Which part of the photo looks clear that part is Focus and dim part is out of the focus.
Photography with Small Aperture or Large ‘f-number’:
Now if you want to capture the photo of a Hill or Mountain then a small ‘f-number’ Aperture is suitable. So that the photo will be clear from Foreground to Background. The Photo the bellow is taken by small Aperture or large depth of field (f/13):
DSLR Photography with Large Aperture or Small ‘f-number’:
Again if you want to capture the nearest and small subject like the picture below. Then large Aperture makes the subject clear which stays on focus. The Photo is taken by large Aperture or small f-number (f/4.5):
